What is Jin Shin Do® Acupressure?

Jin Shin Do® means the "Way of the Compassionate Spirit." It is a complementary health modality, where finger pressure is applied to two specific acu-points simultaneously. Acupressure is based on the 5,000 year old Asian theory that all diseases and symptoms reflect an imbalance in a body's physical, emotional, and spiritual energy system. Iona Teeguarden developed Jin Shin Do® in the early 1970's by combining Asian Theory, western psychotherapy, Japanese Finger Pressure Massage (Jin Shin Jitsu), and Taoist Philosophy. The uniqueness of this modality is the combination of Chinese Five Element Theory with the Eight Extraordinary Meridians. These Meridians continually moderate and adjust the energy flow throughout the twelve organ meridians in order to maintain a balanced state of physical and emotional health.

The goals of Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure™ include
- relief or release from bodily aches and pains,
- reduction of feelings of stress caused by everyday life;
- assistance in transforming emotional blocks into clear pathways
- maintenance of the body/mind connection on a regular basis to prevent recurrence of chronic imbalances
